The Calleja del Potro square in Guadarrama has undergone a thorough environmental and landscape rehabilitation, transforming it into a more welcoming and functional space for the community.

The renovation works have concluded, equipping this urban corner with new play and leisure areas. The intervention aims to enhance the environmental quality and functionality of the space, integrating sustainability and accessibility criteria.
This project is part of the Sustainable Tourism Plan for Destinations, managed by the Sierra de Guadarrama Development Association (ADESGAM) and financed with “Next Generation EU” funds. The total investment in the square was 122,042.7 euros, including taxes.
The work included restructuring the trees, introducing native species for greater plant sustainability, and optimizing water usage. Additionally, two climate islands have been installed as a measure for climate change adaptation, also managed by ADESGAM.
For its part, the Environment Department of the Guadarrama City Council, in collaboration with Valoriza, has completely renovated the play areas. This initiative, with an investment of approximately 60,000 euros, adds two new children's zones, while respecting the use of the space by other community groups.
These renovations are part of a broader program by the Guadarrama City Council to improve municipal urban spaces and green areas. Investments exceeding 600,000 euros have already been approved for the supply and installation of urban furniture and children's play equipment in various areas of the municipality.
