The El Escorial City Council has concluded improvement works at the educational centers CEIP Felipe II and CEIP Padre Gerardo Gil, with an investment exceeding €600,000, to ensure their readiness for the start of the school year.

The municipality of El Escorial has carried out significant improvement, conservation, and modernization actions for its school infrastructures during the summer period. The mayor, Antonio Vicente, along with the Councilor for Education, Antonio Lobo, visited the completed works at CEIP Felipe II and CEIP Padre Gerardo Gil to oversee the results.
The total investment for these interventions exceeds €600,000. At CEIP Felipe II, the most significant allocation, amounting to €396,604, was dedicated to replacing metal joinery to enhance energy efficiency and thermal insulation. Of this amount, €246,604.90 comes from the municipal Treasury's surplus and €150,000 from the Community of Madrid's Program for Cooperation on Municipal Works and Services.
Other improvements at CEIP Felipe II include the complete renovation of the vinyl flooring and wall coverings in the school's sports hall, funded by the Regional Investment Program (PIR). This modernizes the gymnasium and increases student safety. Furthermore, the former boiler room has been converted into a new storage area for the kitchen. Two prefabricated, portable bleachers were also installed on the school's outdoor sports court, costing €98,141.33.
At CEIP Padre Gerardo Gil, works to replace false ceilings and secure the joists in the main building's corridors have been completed to eliminate the risk of falling fragments. This project, funded by the Community of Madrid with €35,516.99, also includes reinforcing the height of the exterior metal enclosure and changing the main entrance's intercom system.
Additionally, a project to install a light roof over part of the outdoor playground at CEIP Padre Gerardo Gil is in the bidding phase. This initiative, also under the Regional Investment Program (PIR) with an approximate budget of €94,295.16, will create new shaded areas to improve student well-being during warmer months. This action is expected to be carried out before the end of the year.
