The Madrid town of El Escorial will become the epicenter of craft beer on the upcoming October 3rd with the celebration of its eighth edition. The event will feature the participation of 11 breweries and one mead producer, from the Community of Madrid, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, and the notable international presence of the Belgian brewery Le Chouffe.
The festival, organized by the Association of Merchants and Entrepreneurs of El Escorial in collaboration with the City Council, will offer a comprehensive program that goes beyond beer. It will be complemented by two food stalls and cultural activities such as street theater and live music.
The mayor, Antonio Vicente, has highlighted the importance of such initiatives for tourism and the revitalization of local commerce, noting how the festival has benefited local restaurateurs despite initial reservations.
Israel G. Montejo, head of the organization, described the event as an "extra boost" for El Escorial, which is also leaving a "lasting impact" on the town. He pointed out that the festival is returning to its original date in early October, marking the start of the Escorial autumn season.
Among the cultural highlights is the presence of Mike Dos Perillas, an artist who blends clowning, circus, and street theater. Attendees will also find gluten-free and non-alcoholic beer options, in line with current consumption trends.
The cultural program includes the show by Mike Dos Perillas and a performance by the group LET at the Fernández Panadero Park, featuring a repertoire of classic rock covers.
With a strong educational focus, Momentos Cerveceros will conduct guided tastings to explore the styles, aromas, and flavors of the beers on display.
To participate in the experience, an official 34 cl glass will be available for 2.50 euros. The organization expects to consolidate the festival as a key event for craft beer enthusiasts in the Community of Madrid.
Participating breweries include CCVK (Vallecas), Bacterio Brewing (Móstoles), Joint Brewing (Madrid), Malta Caballar (Alpedrete), Vamos a Beer (Santo Tomé del Puerto), 90 Varas (Cerezo de Abajo), Cerveza Arriaca (Yunquera de Henares), Cerveza Bola (Toledo), Oso Brew (Alcobendas), Octavo Arte (Segovia), and Le Chouffe (Belgium). Hidromiel Decuria (Toledo) will also participate.
