The authorities' swift action was prompted by a tip from a local resident who alerted them to the potential presence of a marijuana plantation inside a dwelling. These types of crops, deliberately set up in enclosed spaces, often go unnoticed without community collaboration.
Upon receiving the information, agents from the Guardia Civil initiated an investigation to verify the tip's accuracy. Pertinent checks were carried out, a crucial step to obtain the necessary judicial authorization for a house search, providing sufficient evidence to justify the measure.
Once all legal requirements were met, officers proceeded to enter and search the residence. Inside, they confirmed their suspicions by finding a marijuana plantation with 707 plants. Additionally, a wide array of cultivation equipment was seized, including lighting, ventilation, and irrigation systems.
The detection of this plantation was made possible by the involvement of residents in the security of their surroundings.
As a result of the operation, two individuals were arrested and face charges for alleged crimes against public health, related to the cultivation and potential distribution of the substance, and for electricity fraud. Navacerrada, known for its natural environment and ski resort, is a municipality in the Sierra de Madrid whose tranquility can sometimes be exploited for such illicit activities.
