The Sierra de Madrid Youth Orchestra (JOsM) has launched its new project, the JOsM Choir, an initiative open to residents of the Sierra de Guadarrama aged 14 and above.

The JOsM Choir aims to bring together voices from various municipalities in the Sierra, creating a space for those passionate about singing, whether they have prior experience or are simply eager to learn, sing, and be part of a collective project.
Led by pianist, singer, and choral director Alicia Achaques, the choir will be part of the major productions of the Sierra de Madrid Youth Orchestra.
The initiative combines musical development with significant training and community-building aspects. Participants will engage in weekly rehearsals, masterclasses, musical gatherings, and activities designed for learning and communal music-making.
A key motivation is the preparation of large repertoires to be performed on stage alongside the orchestra.
Registration is open from September 5 to 28, 2026. Participants must be 14 years or older, with rehearsals held every Friday from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The monthly fee is €25.
A welcome meeting is scheduled for October 2, 2026, with the venue to be announced soon. Registrations can be completed via an online form at [info@orquestajosm.com](mailto:info@orquestajosm.com).
The project will commence its activities with a focus on the 2026–2027 Christmas season, when the new choir's voices will begin preparing for stage performances with the Sierra de Madrid Youth Orchestra.
The establishment of the JOsM Choir marks a new step in the growth of this musical project, continuing to generate opportunities for people in the Sierra municipalities to engage with and actively participate in music.
