The document, to be published in December, analyzes the urban innovation model, technological development, and talent attraction implemented in Las Rozas to improve quality of life and foster growth opportunities. It involved the participation of the COTEC Foundation for Innovation and will serve as a scalable roadmap for other cities.
The presentation was led by Pedro Moneo, CEO of Opinno and director of MIT Tech Review in Spanish, who discussed with the mayor of Las Rozas and president of Las Rozas Innova, José de la Uz, the key findings of the work, covering aspects such as governance, internal capacity building, and collaboration with companies, startups, and universities.
Las Rozas's participation in the Smart City Expo World Congress, held from November 3 to 5 at Fira Barcelona, marks a milestone as the city's first time attending with its own stand. From Pavilion 3, stand D70, the city is showcasing over 100 urban innovation and technology projects grouped into five areas: Digital public services focused on citizens; Smart and safe city; Sustainable mobility; Green and efficient city; and Innovation and Talent.
Among the initiatives highlighted are the city's digital twin, the Artificial Intelligence-based video surveillance system, the drone aerial patrol, and projects for intelligent management of energy, water, lighting, air quality, and waste. Tools such as GovTech and Public Procurement of Innovation are also presented to streamline public administration.
The innovation model presented by Las Rozas is built on connecting different ecosystem actors. Therefore, the city attends SCEWC under the slogan “A bridge to the future” accompanied by 23 technology companies and startups. Over the three days, more than 40 presentations, meetings, and dialogue sessions are scheduled, and the stand will host over 30 delegations from national and international cities.
