The Casa de Cultura Paco de Lucía will host the X Ancient Music Festival, taking place from May 7 to 9. This event, already a national benchmark, will offer a diverse program including film screenings such as Farinelli, il castrato, the sonic journey of La Ritirata, family puppet shows with Quixote, and live tableau performances like Il Lamento di Caravaggio.
In addition to ancient music, the Teatro Bulevar will host various theatrical plays throughout the month. Upcoming premieres include Políticamente incorrecto by Ray Cooney on Saturday, May 16, Pijama para seis by Marco Camoletti on Friday, May 22, and El imitador by Julián Fontalvo on Friday, May 29. There will also be a family performance of El Flautista de Hamelin by the Brothers Grimm on Saturday, May 23, and the premiere of the film Anatomía de un régimen sentimental by Carlos Hernando on Thursday, May 21.
The Sala Polivalente of the Casa de Cultura will be the venue for several conferences, covering topics such as cinema in Madrid, the figure of Lucas Jordán, musical encounters about Mahler, the history of El Escorial, and the lives of intellectuals like María Goyri and Jimena Menéndez Pidal. These talks will be spread throughout the month, offering options for different interests.
The world of books will also have its place with literary presentations, storytelling, and oral narratives. Works such as América Española by José Laorden and the poetry collection Versos de amor y muerte by Enrique García will be presented. Reading clubs will continue their sessions with authors like Laszló Krasznahorkai and Gabriel García Márquez. Finally, the Casa de Cultura Paco de Lucía will host free exhibitions, including the Rafael Botí Collection, Circular Paintings by Concha Garrote, The Manila Galleon Route, and The Invisible Stage by Jerónimo Maya.
