The archivist of Hoyo de Manzanares, Pilar García Martín, has published her new book, Hoyo Blues, a collection of 16 stories that explore local history with an emotional and rigorous approach, based on documentation from the Municipal Archive.

This third volume by the author is distinguished by its emotional depth and meticulous historical rigor, offering a unique perspective on the past of Hoyo de Manzanares. The work, which has already received praise from its first readers, is considered the most literary of García Martín's publications on the history of the locality.
Among the narratives that make up Hoyo Blues are episodes as unique as the creation of the Peña Retama Psychotherapy Clinic in the early 1960s, a pioneering center in mental health treatment. It also tells the story of the Mesón La Camioneta, inaugurated in 1969, a key meeting point for the Movida madrileña where artists like Tino Casal were regulars and which, it is said, hosted Spain's first 'drag' party. In addition, the book addresses more everyday stories that evoke the lives of the inhabitants and the emblematic places of Hoyo.
This is the third book that Pilar García Martín dedicates exclusively to the history of Hoyo de Manzanares, adding a fourth volume if her co-authorship in a work on antituberculosis sanatoriums is included. The author has stated that each book is an exhaustive process of research and writing.

"I think it has turned out to be a curious book. I always say it's the last one, because it's a very long and tiring process, not only collecting real data from documents, but also having to talk to many people, putting the data in order, writing it... and then the editing part, which is also very exhausting."
