Rayo Majadahonda striker, Ilies Faure, has shared his thoughts on the upcoming match against CD Quintanar del Rey, a pivotal game for both teams in their respective ambitions.

In an interview for Radio Majadahonda, Faure, currently the league's top scorer, expressed his personal and team's satisfaction with their current good form. Rayo Majadahonda aims to reclaim the lead, while Quintanar del Rey fights to escape the relegation zone, arriving with a positive streak of three wins in their last five matches.

"We approach it with our football philosophy, wanting to have possession, be protagonists, create chances, prevent them from creating, be more solid, continue working as we do, wanting the ball, keep pressing in the opponent's area, and maintain the dynamic we've had all year. I believe our philosophy doesn't change, no matter the opponent."

The first leg, played on an artificial turf pitch, was described as a hard-fought encounter. For this Sunday, April 12th's match at Cerro del Espino, Faure emphasizes the continuity of their playing style, focused on possession and creating opportunities.
The striker also highlighted the importance of fan support, whom he considers an “extra player” on the field, capable of instilling energy and strength in the team during difficult moments. He recalled the large number of supporters who traveled to Navalcarnero, where Rayo Majadahonda secured a 2-3 victory with a brace from him and a goal from Gonzalo Calçada.

"For me, it's a personal pride to be able to convey what I feel and for the passion I give to football to be transmitted to the fans, for them to love me, and besides that, to be able to help the club and the fans to travel, because I don't know how many people came to Navalcarnero that day. It was crazy, in the teams I've been in, I don't remember the fans ever coming to an away game and being louder than the local crowd. I encourage them to keep supporting us like this, to keep coming, because we give 100% on the field every game, and personally, I'm very proud."

Regarding his role in the team, Faure describes himself as a strong striker in duels with center-backs and in playing with his back to goal, characteristics he tries to exploit in every match. He acknowledges that football is about streaks and that, although goals were scarce at the beginning of the season, consistent work has paid off, making the team one of the highest-scoring in the category.
At 24 years old, Ilies Faure, born in Tenerife, has played in the youth academies of Las Palmas and Sevilla, as well as for Rayo Vallecano and Fuenlabrada before arriving in Majadahonda. He considers his current goal-scoring record to be the highest of his career.
