The Association of Solidarity Crafts IAIA commemorates International 'Knit in Public' Day with two open events in the Community of Madrid: one in Collado Villalba and another at the Museum of Costume.

The initiative, aimed at both experienced knitters and beginners, will provide materials and guidance from the association's master knitters. These events are part of the project 'Knitting Knows No Age: Intergenerational Groups of Solidarity Knitters', funded by 0.7% of the IRPF from the Community of Madrid.
The first event will take place on June 9, in front of the Miguel Hernández Municipal Library in Collado Villalba, from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Subsequently, on June 13, the activity will move to the Museum of Costume in Madrid, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
The 'Knitting Knows No Age' project uses wool therapy as a methodology to improve emotional well-being and promote active participation among seniors and young people. Through collective knitting, the IAIA Association aims to create support networks, combat loneliness, and facilitate knowledge exchange between generations. The knitted garments will be donated to vulnerable groups, reinforcing the initiative's solidarity aspect.
Furthermore, as part of these events, specific workshops will be held to create portable sensory tools. These pieces will be part of the association's participation in the European competition Wool4Health Awards 2026, taking place in Portugal. The goal is to craft items that improve the quality of life for individuals with Alzheimer's and children with autism, highlighting the therapeutic potential of wool.
