GREFA is marking its 45th anniversary by presenting awards to individuals, entities, and institutions that have excelled due to their dedication to nature conservation and their connection with the NGO. Among the thirteen honorees are singer Eva Amaral, pioneering conservationists Jesús Garzón (posthumously) and Benigno Varillas, communicators Jacob Petrus and Melerus, the organization WWF España, and the research center IREC.

The award ceremony will take place on Friday, June 5, coinciding with World Environment Day, at the GREFA Wildlife Hospital in Majadahonda (Madrid). The event can be followed live on YouTube starting at 10:30 AM.

The GREFA Awards - 45th Anniversary recognize achievements in diverse fields such as environmental activism, science, communication, environmental justice, business, and culture. Honorees include Jesús Garzón (Conservation Pioneer), Benigno Varillas (Environmental Activism), WWF España (National NGO), Redeia (Collaborating Company), Juan José Cerrón (GREFA Collaborator), IREC and SERTOX (Science and Conservation), Jacob Petrus (Environmental Communication), Melerus (New Communicators), Jorge Moradell (Environmental Justice), and Eva Amaral (Culture and Nature).

Founded in 1981, GREFA has cared for over 120,000 animals of native species at its Wildlife Hospital in Majadahonda, one of Europe's leading centers in its specialty. Annually, more than ten thousand people participate in the environmental education activities organized by the NGO.
