Bridge surface with damage and broken railing, reflecting the need for maintenance.
The Government Delegate of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, has urged the Collado Villalba City Council to take responsibility for the maintenance of the Station Bridge surface, criticizing the delay in the works.
Martín was emphatic in stating that the responsibility for the upper transit area of the bridge falls on the local council. This declaration comes after being questioned during his visit to the municipality about the condition of the walkway connecting the Railway Station with the Parque de la Coruña area, an issue that has generated controversy and has been taken to court.
An initial ruling, known last October, determined that ADIF (Railway Infrastructure Administrator) is responsible for the bridge's structure, but the upper part is a municipal responsibility. However, this decision was appealed by the body dependent on the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, keeping the case in court without a firm judgment.
“
"What leaves no room for doubt is the maintenance of that bridge's surface, which corresponds to the Collado Villalba City Council and has already been delayed for too long. What the City Council should be doing is intervening on the surface and stop shirking responsibility, stop attacking the Government of Spain, and assume its own competencies."
Despite the lack of a definitive ruling, the Councillor for Urban Planning, Adan Martínez, has released a video on social media demanding the resignation of Minister Óscar Puente and the immediate execution of works, both structural and those related to paving, sidewalks, lighting, and the reinstallation of new protective fencing for pedestrians.
The Government Delegate lamented the city council's stance, suggesting that inaction on the surface works, which would not imply structural risk, aims to generate political confrontation. Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Socialist Party in Collado Villalba, Andrés Villa, sharply criticized Martínez, questioning his knowledge or his intention to mislead residents.
“
"The potholes in the bridge's asphalt, the lifted tiles, the absence of fences protecting pedestrians, the rust on the stairs, or the lack of lighting are things that have always depended on the City Council. Everyone knows it, and no one questions it. Please, it's ridiculous to have to talk about this."
