Following the conclusion of the patron saint festivities and the start of the new political term, the Municipal Government of Galapagar has presented an ambitious social and economic measure. The initiative, part of the Maternity and Family Support Plan, aims to assist parents or adopters registered in the municipality for at least five years whose children were born, adopted, or taken into care during 2025.
The aid will be distributed as follows: €100 for the first child, €300 for the second, and €500 for the third child and subsequent children. Single-parent families will receive a fixed €300 per child (or €500 if it's the third child or subsequent). Additionally, an extraordinary supplement of €500 is available for minors with a disability degree of 33% or higher, potentially reaching a maximum of €1,000.
Mayor Carla Greciano stated, "With this measure, we want the Town Hall to stand by families when they need it most. The arrival of a baby involves extraordinary expenses, and our Government's commitment is not just in words; it translates into real and direct relief for household economies." The process will be 100% online and simplified, with the application period expected to open next week.
Greciano also reviewed electoral commitments, highlighting that the Municipal Government has achieved an execution level exceeding 79% of its program, enabling the municipality's reactivation after years of inactivity. Implemented actions include a reduction in the IBI (Property Tax), the elimination of the Plusvalía Mortis Causa (Inheritance Capital Gains Tax), the creation of preferential parking spaces for families, the delivery of welcome baskets, enhanced summer camps and workshops, the reinstatement of school scholarships, and an investment of over €1,000,000 in the renovation of children's play areas.
In terms of public services, the reopening of the Jacinto Benavente Theatre, the Municipal School of Languages, and the summer and winter swimming pools has been achieved. A comprehensive renovation plan for public schools was executed, and the first council for Inclusion and Accessibility was created, introducing pioneering measures such as classrooms for ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and easy-read documents.
Regarding security and mobility, 15 new Local Police officers were incorporated, a new video surveillance system was implemented, and over 7,000 graffiti tags were removed. An asphalting plan has been rolled out in several neighborhoods, buried waste containers were reactivated, and the drinking water network has been renovated. Citizen services have been digitized with virtual assistants and a Mobile Office.
The urbanizations of Galapagar have also been the focus of historic investments, including the definitive reception of Parquelagos, street renovations, and improvements to children's play areas, along with advances in bus frequencies. In Colonia España, an asphalting plan was executed, and internal mobility was improved. In El Guijo, the public lighting renovation project was launched with an investment of €2.6 million. Access roads to Las Cuestas were repaired, and citizen security was reinforced in Los Jarales with video surveillance cameras.
Mayor Carla Greciano stated: "We came into government with the promise that Galapagar would function again and that families would be at the absolute center of our priorities. Today, we not only present a pioneering maternity aid of up to €1,000 but also demonstrate with data and facts that this is a government that keeps its word: we lower taxes, improve services, reopen closed facilities, and care for our residents' daily lives."
The Municipal Government anticipates that the coming months will be decisive for projects such as works on Soberanía street, the La Navata Bridge, the open sports space in Parquelagos, the comprehensive renovation of El Toril with the first open-air museum in the Community of Madrid, and the integral lighting renovation in El Guijo. It is expected that 2027 will mark a turning point as the major year for investments, consolidating the transformation project of Carla Greciano's team.
