Tres Cantos is joining the 'Expedition Around the World 2026', an academic program for young people aged 16 and 17 that combines sustainability training with practical experiences in Spain and Portugal.

This initiative, organized in collaboration with the Autonomous University of Madrid, seeks to involve students in current global challenges, with a particular focus on wildfire prevention and promoting a sustainable future. The program will run from July 14 to 31, offering a total of 50 places nationwide.
Under the motto 'Sustainable Europe and Wildfire Prevention', the expedition addresses crucial environmental issues, as well as values such as solidarity, interculturality, and social cohesion. The educational proposal is inspired by the figure of Bartolomé de las Casas, recognized for his defense of human rights.
Tres Cantos has been selected as one of the starting points for this expedition. During their stay in the municipality, participants will engage in training and environmental awareness activities, expanding their knowledge of environmental matters through practical sessions. The local City Council will actively collaborate in hosting the students, providing municipal facilities and contributing to the funding of their stay.
Young people interested in applying for one of the 50 scholarships can register until May 11 through the program's official website. The selection process will consider academic records, personal motivation, and the presentation of a sustainable social entrepreneurship project. A committee from the Autonomous University of Madrid will be responsible for evaluating the applications.
