The Universidad Popular Carmen de Michelena has scheduled two cultural events for this Friday, May 8, in Tres Cantos and Colmenar Viejo, including a dramatized reading and a literary discussion.

These activities, aimed at young people and adults, will take place in various cultural venues in the northern area of Madrid. The initiative seeks to promote literature and performing arts within the community.
The first proposal is a dramatized reading of Caperucita en Manhattan, based on the work of Carmen Martín Gaite. This performance will be held on Friday, May 8, between 6:30 PM and 8:00 PM, at the Casa de la Juventud de Colmenar Viejo.
The staging is directed by a professional from the sector and will feature the participation of the ALULA Interpretation Group, part of the Universidad Popular Carmen de Michelena de Tres Cantos. The production offers a dynamic adaptation of the story, set in New York, combining voice, movement, and plastic elements. According to the organizers, the characters will be played by different actresses who will exchange representative elements of each role during the performance, offering a contemporary revision of the classic tale of Little Red Riding Hood, focusing on freedom and fears.
The second scheduled activity is a literary discussion dedicated to Coloquio de invierno, a novel by the writer Luis Landero. This meeting will take place from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Centro 21 Marzo of the Factoría Cultural de Tres Cantos.
The session will be coordinated by a Literature professor and will delve into the work of Landero, known for titles such as Juegos de la edad tardía, El guitarrista, and Lluvia fina. The analyzed novel features seven characters trapped in a rural hotel during the Filomena storm, who share personal stories while awaiting the storm's end. The organization highlights the influence of the Cervantine tradition and classic dialogue novels in this work.
With these initiatives, the Universidad Popular Carmen de Michelena reaffirms its commitment to cultural programming, linking literature, theater, and contemporary thought in Tres Cantos and its neighboring municipalities.
