This fiscal policy, which will come into effect in 2026, is estimated to generate savings of 700,000 euros for taxpayers in the municipality. The measure will directly impact 1,800 families, who will see their IBI quota reduced.
The Council has set the general tax rate at 0.4%, the lowest level permitted by current regulations. This measure will be applied generally to all property owners in Tres Cantos.
In addition to the general reduction, existing bonuses have been strengthened. The main beneficiaries include large families, people with disabilities, and households with photovoltaic installations. In these cases, reductions can reach up to 40% of the total tax amount. More than 1,000 large families will benefit from discounts of 50% or 75%, depending on their category.
This decision is part of a fiscal strategy designed to offset the impact of the new state-level waste fee. The municipal government aims to maintain low tax pressure, despite the increase in external tax obligations, ensuring that Tres Cantos remains among the cities with the lowest tax burden.
Given the constant demographic and urban growth of the municipality, the City Council is committed to management that optimizes resources without increasing tax pressure on residents. The goal is for the increase in housing stock and population to translate into improved services, not increased taxes.
