The Tres Cantos City Council has launched the 'Al cole en dos ruedas' (To School on Two Wheels) program, an initiative aimed at promoting sustainable mobility among Primary and Secondary students, encouraging the use of bicycles and scooters for their daily commutes to school.

This proposal is part of the municipal Safe School Paths strategy and actively involves most schools in the municipality. Its main objective is to establish active transportation habits among young people, offering a loyalty system based on reward cards.
The program's operation is straightforward: students receive different colored cards. Each time a student goes to school by bicycle or scooter, they get a stamp on their card. Once completed, the card can be exchanged for a gift at municipal offices, and a new one is issued to continue participating.
The reward process is structured in several phases. Upon completing the first card with ten stamps, participants receive an initial prize and a second card. After completing the yellow, blue, and green cards, students gain access to a special commemorative card. Additionally, a special card has been designed for Tres Cantos' 35th anniversary, which includes five extra stamps. Those who accumulate a total of 35 stamps will be awarded a special prize: tickets to a family activity organized by the Department of Culture.
The program also includes collective incentives for educational centers. In September, coinciding with Mobility Week, the Department of Education will recognize the school with the highest relative participation level. This initiative seeks to involve the entire educational community, including students, families, and schools, in adopting more environmentally friendly transportation habits.
