The nine public schools in Tres Cantos have begun the 2026-2027 academic year with significant improvements to their facilities. Following a program of actions developed by the Municipal Government, especially during the summer period, the centers now feature more accessible, functional, and sustainable spaces.
The total investment, exceeding 3 million euros from the municipal budget and supplemented by 900,000 euros from the Regional Investment Program (PIR), has encompassed comprehensive renovations, space reorganization, climate control, accessibility, roofing, patios, and kitchens.
Mayor Jesús Moreno highlighted that these actions align with the commitment to educational excellence and directly benefit the well-being of over 5,000 students and their teachers.
At the Antonio Osuna Public School (CEIP Antonio Osuna), 1.1 million euros were allocated to the integral renovation of the Primary pavilion, reorganizing and expanding teaching spaces and renewing windows. The Carmen Hernández Guarch Public School (CEIP Carmen Hernández Guarch) received 500,000 euros for the renovation of its Early Childhood Education pavilion, introducing for the first time aerothermal energy with underfloor heating-cooling connected to solar panels, LED lighting, and safety systems.
Other significant interventions include the remodeling of the central pavilion at the Gabriel García Márquez Public School (CEIP Gabriel García Márquez) (nearly 450,000 euros), creating new spaces for administration, multipurpose rooms, and specific classrooms for music, IT, or technology, as well as renovating the roof and perimeter fence.
The remaining public educational centers have also received specific improvements. The Ciudad de Columbia Public School (CEIP Ciudad de Columbia) has had its roofs and drainage systems remodeled; the Carmen Iglesias Public School (CEIP Carmen Iglesias) has been repainted and undergone waterproofing work. The Tierno Galván Public School (CEIP Tierno Galván) has updated its plumbing and installed new windows, while the Ciudad de Nejapa Public School (CEIP Ciudad de Nejapa) has intervened in its Early Childhood Education area with a new heating system.
Furthermore, the Aldebarán Public School (CEIP Aldebarán) has renovated its kitchen floor and gutters, and refurbished outdoor areas for Early Childhood Education. The Miguel de Cervantes Public School (CEIP Miguel de Cervantes) has added a new play structure to its Early Childhood Education playground.
The transformation is complemented by the progressive expansion of the ‘Future Classrooms’ model, featuring open, flexible, and technologically adapted spaces with diverse learning environments that promote comfort, collaborative work, and new educational methodologies. Education Councilor Marisa Peña noted that the buildings themselves become another tool in service of teaching.
These actions continue an investment of over 13 million euros in educational infrastructure over the last five years, focusing on modernization, accessibility, sustainability, and energy efficiency.
First Deputy Mayor Javier Juárez emphasized that sustained investment allows for progressive and robust updates to all schools, enhancing the quality of education and the daily well-being of thousands of students, teachers, and families.
Mayor Jesús Moreno concluded that this investment demonstrates the firm and continuous commitment to public schools and educational excellence, stating that investing in schools is investing in the future of Tres Cantos.
