The town of Tres Cantos is preparing to host the start of the 3rd 100-kilometer Solidarity March, a crucial event taking place on May 1st and 2nd, aimed at raising awareness about CTNNB1 syndrome and securing resources for its research.

The march, organized by the CTNNB1 Spain Association, a non-profit organization founded in 2021 by families of affected children, will begin in Tres Cantos's Town Hall square on May 1st at 10:30 AM. This long-distance journey seeks to bring visibility to a rare genetic disease and promote the development of specific therapies.
The solidarity route will span two days. After departing from Tres Cantos, participants will make a refreshment stop at the Antonio Martín sports center in Torrelaguna. The arrival is scheduled for May 2nd at 10:00 AM at the Medieval Market in Talamanca de Jarama, where the event will conclude.
CTNNB1 syndrome, first identified in 2012, is a spontaneous mutation affecting the global neurodevelopment of approximately one in 50,000 children worldwide. Its manifestations include motor alterations, speech and communication difficulties, visual problems, and cognitive impairment, making diagnosis complex as it shares symptoms with conditions like cerebral palsy or autism spectrum disorders.
The CTNNB1 Spain Association focuses its efforts on improving the quality of life for affected individuals and their families by providing reliable information, promoting research, and organizing initiatives such as this march. Funds raised will be entirely allocated to research projects and the development of therapies, including gene therapy-based treatments.
