The requests were presented by the mayor, Jesús Moreno, and the Councilor for Urban Development, Works, and Mobility, María del Mar Sánchez, to the CRTM's General Manager, Pablo Rodríguez Sardinero, during a recent meeting. The aim is to align public transport with the city's growth and the needs of its residents, encompassing work, education, healthcare, and leisure travel.
One of the key demands focuses on line 717, proposing to reduce current waiting intervals, which reach 45 minutes on weekdays and up to 120 minutes on weekends and holidays. An increase in frequencies for lines 712, 713, and 716 during Saturdays and holidays, where waiting times average around 45 minutes, has also been requested.
Regarding the night service, the council proposes reinforcing line N701 to decrease intervals that, at certain times, reach 90 minutes. Additionally, improvements to public transport near HM Tres Cantos Hospital have been requested.
Another important request is the restoration of interurban connections to Madrid, specifically to Plaza de Castilla. The City Council seeks to re-establish usual frequencies and routes once ongoing construction works, such as the third lane of the M-607 and the development of Madrid Nuevo Norte, which are currently impacting travel outside the municipality, progress.
In terms of urban transport, the request to unify lines L4 and L5 and extend their operating hours has been reiterated. Currently, these lines conclude service at 8:40 PM on weekdays and 9:15 PM on weekends and holidays. The proposal aims to prolong their operation to meet user demands.
The municipal government has also requested that the regulation on transporting objects on buses, approved for January 2026, be extended to Tres Cantos's urban transport. The City Council emphasizes that these requests are a response to the municipality's population growth and high daily mobility.
