The Tres Cantos City Council, through the Department of Culture, has designed a program that spans the entire month of April. This initiative combines reading animation, creative workshops, and literary encounters, all designed to engage residents of all ages in the celebration of Book Day.
“"Municipal libraries are vibrant spaces for meeting, learning, and shared enjoyment."
The central day of the program, April 23, focused on the presentation of the 41st Children's and Youth Book Exhibition. Organized in collaboration with the Community of Madrid, this exhibition will be available at the Fundación CM Library until April 29. The exhibition brings together an updated selection of titles classified by age and genre, facilitating access to new literary proposals for families and young readers.
Among the highlighted activities, the Lope de Vega Library hosted on April 23 a printmaking and illustration workshop titled Alphabet of Fantastic and Storybook Characters, aimed at children aged 7 and older. This workshop merges traditional artistic techniques with reading animation, inviting participants to explore the world of books through creativity.
Additionally, the 9th edition of the reading competition Maxi Animals vs Mini Insects held new sessions on April 23 and 27 at the Lope de Vega Library. This activity, aimed at children, transforms reading into a participatory game, fostering reading habits in a dynamic and motivating way among the youngest.
For the youngest, storyteller Susi Lillo has toured the municipality's Children's Schools with the storytelling session A Sea of Stories, a show that combines puppets, songs, and body language to introduce the world of books to pre-readers. There were also open sessions on April 23 and 27 in two shifts.
The adult program included a literary encounter with writer Ana Merino, awarded the Nadal Prize 2020, on April 20 at the Lope de Vega Library. This activity offered an opportunity to approach contemporary literature in a direct dialogue with the author.
“"With this program, we want to bring reading closer to all residents, especially the youngest, and together celebrate the value of books as a tool for coexistence and personal growth."
