The Tres Cantos City Council has launched its summer plan, which includes a significant investment aimed at renovating schools, offering family conciliation activities, and reinforcing home security. The objective is to take advantage of the population decrease during July and August to carry out key urban improvements without disrupting the municipality's daily routine.
To facilitate work-life balance, a wide range of activities for minors has been deployed. These include traditional urban camps with swimming pools, creative workshops, and sports, as well as specialization options like the English Camp and the Summer Sport Camp. The youth center Vértice will offer cooking and technology workshops, along with adventure activities and a surf camp in Asturias, targeting teenagers.
Education extends to all ages. The 21 de Marzo building hosts the Tres Cantos University Summer until July 22, featuring 18 training programs in collaboration with universities such as the Autonomous, Complutense, and Polytechnic. Registration will soon open for the new Municipal School of Languages, managed with the Cet Brit group, offering courses in Chinese, German, French, and English. For seniors, the Antonio Somalo Bernal center focuses on emotional well-being, new technologies, and active aging until September.
The summer period is also crucial for public space interventions. The mayor, Jesús Moreno, highlighted that these works are an opportunity to improve public spaces and educational centers. Interventions will focus on main arteries like Avenida de los Actores, the Soto de Viñuelas area, Paseo de los Andes, and Avenida de Viñuelas, as well as streets such as Olmo, Fragua, and Avenida de la Luz. Work will include resurfacing, accessibility improvements, renovation of children's play areas, and refurbishment of ornamental fountains.
The modernization of educational infrastructure is the most significant investment, with a budget close to 3 million euros. Centers like Antonio del Cura, Hernández Guarch, and Gabriel García Márquez are undergoing comprehensive refurbishment. In sports, the Parque Norte sports center will be completed, and the tennis courts at Embarcaciones will be remodeled. The Jaime Mata football field will have its artificial turf replaced with a state-of-the-art, microplastic-free surface, complemented by LED lighting. Concurrently, the Hostelería Responsable campaign will be launched to optimize waste management in the local restaurant sector.
The cultural offerings include the Veladas en el Lago (Evenings by the Lake) at Parque Central, featuring six free open-air concerts on Fridays and Saturdays from July 3 to 18. The lineup includes artists like Café Quijano, Pitingo, DePol, and Darwin, as well as tributes to Hombres G and Fito y Fitipaldis. The sculpture Paola. La Mirada by Iván Gómez will also be inaugurated in this area.
Municipal libraries are extending the book loan period to 45 days until August 15. The summer camps for the Municipal Schools of Music, Dance, and Theater for children aged 4 to 14 also continue.
The Vacaciones Seguras (Safe Holidays) initiative, active from July 1 to September 30, will allow residents and businesses to leave a set of keys at the municipal security building for the Local Police and the Civil Guard to respond to emergencies.
The mayor stated that Tres Cantos does not stop during the summer and that work continues to improve spaces, enhance municipal services, and offer quality activities, reaffirming the commitment to citizen well-being year-round.
