With the imminent rise in temperatures, the council of San Sebastián de los Reyes has published a Municipal Decree aimed at intensifying preventive measures and urban pest control. The initiative seeks to reduce the presence of insects and rodents in various parts of the municipality, thereby ensuring adequate conditions of sanitation and quality of life for residents.
The municipal document highlights the importance of citizen participation to maximize the effectiveness of treatments carried out by municipal services. Residents are reminded that certain daily practices can significantly contribute to reducing the appearance and proliferation of these unwanted species.
Among the key recommendations, residents are urged to prevent rodents from accessing food and water sources, and to avoid providing them with suitable nesting sites. The decree emphasizes the need for rigorous cleaning to prevent the creation of environments favorable to pest proliferation.
The municipal integrated pest control service operates year-round, adapting its strategies to climatic conditions. The spring and summer seasons, with rising temperatures, are particularly conducive to the appearance of various pests, hence the dissemination of this preventive reminder.
The information campaign aims to reinforce prevention efforts and keep pest presence under control in the municipality's urban areas. The decree details a series of specific guidelines, such as the proper disposal of garbage in sealed bags and containers, avoiding the accumulation of packaging, and maintaining cleanliness in food establishments and hospitality businesses.
Furthermore, it advises against accumulating water in basements and patios, not to dispose of food waste through drains, to keep plots and garden areas clean, and to equip drains and rainwater grates with adequate systems. It also recommends inspecting homes and businesses for potential rodent entry points and sealing them, as well as monitoring pet food to prevent it from becoming a food source for pests.
Failure to comply with these measures may result in sanctions. Citizens who detect the presence of rats in public areas or municipal spaces can report it to the Municipal Health Service by calling 916540932 or emailing salud@ssreyes.org.
