The Foundation Market, more than just a craft fair, is a commemoration of the birth of San Sebastián de los Reyes. This event aims to immerse attendees in the Renaissance, recreating the atmosphere of the late 15th century with period characters, itinerant musicians, and various activities.
The festivities will begin on Friday, April 24, at 5:00 PM with the opening of the stalls, followed by an official inauguration featuring the Corcel de Vulcano show and palace jesters. For three days, the streets will come alive to recall how the municipality's identity was forged over five centuries ago.
The Foundation Market is not just a craft fair, but a commemoration of the birth of San Sebastián de los Reyes.
One of the market's cornerstones is the theatrical performances titled The Foundation of San Sebastián de los Reyes, presented by the Asociación de Teatro Musical Sanse. These plays will narrate the historical events that led to the city's founding and will take place on Saturday, April 25, and Sunday, April 26, in the pedestrian area of Avenida de la Plaza de Toros, with four daily sessions to accommodate all attendees.
The weekend's soundtrack will feature ancient instruments and melodies of yesteryear, highlighting the Renaissance Didactic Concert on Saturday, April 25, at 5:30 PM. This concert, featuring Emilio Villalba, Sara Marina, Marco Bendoni, and Sherezade Soriano, will offer an educational experience on the music and dance of the era.
The market grounds will offer a diverse range of activities for the whole family, including craft and food stalls, thematic exhibitions, and a wooden attractions area specially designed for younger visitors. Craft workshops and participatory family activities will also be organized, with constant entertainment provided by itinerant parades ensuring something interesting is always happening in every corner of the market.
For photography enthusiasts, the event includes a photography contest. Those interested can capture the best moments of the celebrations and participate by following the rules available via QR codes on the program and event signage.
