Residents of Tres Cantos wishing to attend the Patron Saint Festivals of Colmenar Viejo this weekend will find it easier to return home without using a car. The interurban line 723, which connects both municipalities, will extend its night schedule with additional services.
This reinforcement will be implemented specifically on the nights of Friday, August 28, and Saturday, August 29. An extra departure from Tres Cantos to Colmenar Viejo will be added at 00:00, one hour after the last usual departure. Furthermore, during the early mornings of Saturday, August 29, and Sunday, August 30, there will be two return buses from Colmenar Viejo, departing at 5:00 and 6:00 AM from the Corredera de las Colmenas stop.
The request for this service extension came from the Mobility department of the Tres Cantos City Council, which asked the Regional Transport Consortium of Madrid (CRTM) to extend the service for these specific dates. According to the Councilor for Mobility, María del Mar Sánchez, the aim is to offer an alternative to private vehicles, especially for young people, and to contribute to road safety.
It is worth noting that while the route within Tres Cantos will remain unchanged, in Colmenar Viejo the route of line 723 will undergo modifications due to street closures for the festival celebrations.
As an additional alternative, the Cercanías (commuter train) service will also be operational between both towns, with trains running until approximately 11:35 PM and resuming service at 5:50 AM, thus covering almost the entire festival hours.
