An operation carried out by the Civil Guard has led to the dismantling of a criminal organization specializing in the theft of luxury vehicle tires in the town of Tres Cantos. In addition to wheels, the criminals also stole steering wheels, scooters, and a car they used to transport the stolen goods.
Investigations began in late March of last year, following several reports of items missing from inside vehicles and the theft of wheels. Agents determined that the group operated in garages and used two vehicles to carry out their illicit activities.
As part of the operation, a storage room was located in the Vallecas district of Madrid, where the now-detained individuals temporarily hid the stolen material before its subsequent sale. During an intervention, several gang members were caught in flagrante delicto while attempting to clandestinely sell some of the stolen wheels, leading to the arrest of three of them.
Days later, a fourth individual was arrested, completing the dismantling of the group. The detainees are charged with vehicle theft, ten counts of robbery with force, four counts of damage, and belonging to a criminal group. The Civil Guard reported this Sunday that several high-end wheels, the stolen vehicle, and the tools and clothing used in the robberies have been recovered and returned to their rightful owners.
