The mobilization, part of the “Close Vivotecnia for Animals” campaign, will begin at 5:00 PM from the Plaza de la Estación. The route will pass through several streets of the municipality until reaching the laboratory facilities, located in the Madrid Technology Park.
The march's itinerary will include calle de los Labradores, Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Avenida de los Encuartes, plaza de la Encina, and calle Isaac Newton, concluding at Parque Qube, where Vivotecnia is located. The organizers seek to maintain visibility of the case and their demands through this action.
This call comes five years after activist Carlota Saorsa released undercover recordings showing the treatment of animals in the laboratory, generating significant social reaction. The case has progressed judicially, and a trial has been set for May 7 and 8 against two involved workers, at the courts on calle Juan Camarillo in Madrid.
The April 11 demonstration is part of a calendar of actions that includes another mobilization on April 24, coinciding with Laboratory Animal Day. The latter will start from the headquarters of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), an entity that contracts Vivotecnia, and will head to the Spanish Society for Laboratory Animal Sciences (SECAL).
