Under the motto «Faith, Tradition and Brotherhood», the VIII Pilgrimage of the Virgen del Rocío in Algete aims to bring together residents and devotees for a series of events spanning the entire weekend. The official poster for the pilgrimage highlights the deep roots of this festivity in the municipality with the phrase: «Algete lives its Fair, Algete feels the Rocío».
Activities will commence on Friday, May 8, with a floral offering at 8:00 PM at the Nuestra Señora de la Asunción church, marking the official start of the celebration and paying tribute to the Virgen del Rocío.
Saturday, May 9, will be dedicated to the medal ceremony, a significant event for members of the brotherhood that symbolizes their bond with the confraternity and the Rocío devotion. This event will take place at 7:30 PM, also at the Nuestra Señora de la Asunción church.
The main day of the pilgrimage will be Sunday, May 10, with an intense program starting at 1:00 PM with a mass at the Nuestra Señora de la Asunción church. Subsequently, at 2:00 PM, the procession is scheduled, although the organization has indicated that its realization will be subject to weather conditions.
Sunday afternoon will have a more festive character, with a fellowship meal at the Joan Manuel Serrat Auditorium from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Attendees are reminded to bring their own food for this communal gathering. The day will conclude with a musical performance by the group 1x1 and a sevillanas competition, in addition to other surprises announced by the brotherhood.
