Following the signing of an agreement in December between the Algete City Council and the Madrid Regional Transport Consortium (CRTM), bus stop infrastructure has been upgraded. The agreement stipulated that the Consortium would supply and install the shelters and posts, while the council would be responsible for setting up the lighting points for nighttime illumination.
This initiative, originating from a November 2025 meeting between Mayor Fernando Romo, Councilor Bruno Hebrero, and CRTM Manager Pablo Rodríguez Adimero, addresses the need to improve public transport services in the town.
The new shelters are distributed across key areas of the municipality, including locations on Avenida de Guadalix, Avenida del Monte, the M-106 highway (access to industrial estates), the M-111 highway (towards Paracuellos and Fuente el Saz), Calle Mayor, Ronda de la Constitución, Avenida de Europa, and Calle Santa Teresa de Jesús, among others.
“"We continue in conversations with the Consortium because, independently of this, it is not enough for us and we understand that our neighbors deserve a better service."
Mayor Fernando Romo emphasized that the objective goes beyond the mere installation of shelters, affirming the government team's commitment to improving citizens' quality of life and the continuous pursuit of a more efficient transport service.
Additionally, the collaboration with the CRTM has driven another improvement: the construction of exclusive restrooms for bus drivers. These facilities will be located in the parking area next to the final bus stop on Ronda de la Constitución, and construction is already underway, addressing a long-standing demand from transport professionals.
The Algete City Council has highlighted that these actions are part of a broader negotiation with the Regional Transport Consortium, aiming to further enhance the quality of public transport in the municipality.
