The Algete Local Security Board has approved the security plan for the upcoming patron saint festivities of the Cristo de la Esperanza, taking place from September 10th to 14th, and highlighted the municipality's low crime rate.

The municipality of Algete now has its security deployment ready for its upcoming patron saint festivities. The Local Security Board, during its meeting on Tuesday, June 23rd, gave its approval to the plan designed to ensure safety and tranquility during the five days of the Cristo de la Esperanza celebrations, scheduled from Thursday, September 10th to Monday, September 14th.
The operation will involve personnel from the Civil Guard and agents from the Local Police, who will work in coordination throughout the entire program of events. Planned activities include the traditional bull-runs, which are among the most anticipated moments for residents, as well as a wide range of concerts and street parties. The Plaza de la Constitución will serve as one of the main venues, hosting a significant portion of the activities.
The meeting was co-chaired by the Government Delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, and the mayor of Algete, Fernando Romo Raposo. It was also attended by representatives from the municipal government team, Civil Protection, and the Community of Madrid itself.
During the session, the municipality's security data for the accumulated period of 2026 was reviewed. Algete shows a crime rate of 35.4, significantly lower than the average of 55.2 recorded in the Community of Madrid, placing it nearly 20 points below the statistical expectation for a locality in the region.

"The coordination and effectiveness of the Local Police and the Civil Guard are worthy of recognition. We appreciate the municipality's willingness to cooperate, which embodies the defense of institutional respect and loyalty as a basis for working together for the benefit of the residents."

Francisco Martín Aguirre · Government Delegate in the Community of Madrid

"Thanks to the actions of the Security Forces and Bodies and the collaboration of the Local Police, we have once again seen that Algete is a safe town where our residents can be relatively calm and satisfied with the work these public servants perform for their benefit."

Another significant issue addressed was gender-based violence. The Government Delegate reiterated the request for Algete to join the Comprehensive Monitoring System for Gender Violence Cases (VioGén). Martín Aguirre explained that this request is aimed at municipalities with more than eight local police officers to utilize all available instruments for the more effective protection of gender violence victims. He also noted the mayor's positive response and the commitment of both administrations to study the potential incorporation in the coming months.
