The Alcobendas City Council held its April plenary session, making significant decisions that will directly impact citizens' lives, including the approval of a new residence for the elderly, a mobility ordinance, and financial aid for local businesses.

One of the most notable resolutions was the transfer of a municipal plot to the Community of Madrid for the construction of a residence and day center for seniors. This complex, located at Embrujo Street, 2, in the Fuente Lucha neighborhood, will offer 150 residential places and 40 day center places, as part of the regional 40/40 plan.

"Places for the elderly people of Alcobendas are guaranteed, as they will be prioritized."

Regarding mobility, a new ordinance was initially approved, modifying traffic conditions in the Low Emission Zone. This regulation eliminates passage restrictions for Alcobendas residents and postpones the enforcement of penalties until January 1, 2028. It also regulates the use of electric scooters, permitted from age 15 with mandatory helmet use, and enables parking spaces next to pharmacies.

"It prioritizes freedom for residents and the elimination of restrictions."

Additionally, the plenary unanimously approved a one-million-euro subsidy line for small businesses, hospitality establishments, and local service companies, aimed at helping them cover structural costs. The call for applications will be launched in June. Also, 411,000 euros were allocated for the rehabilitation of the hermitages of San Isidro and Nuestra Señora de la Paz.
During the session, the regularization of immigrants proposed by the central Government was rejected, described as “massive, improvised, insecure, and uncontrolled.” Conversely, an institutional declaration was supported in favor of a 14-year-old student whose visa was denied by the United States embassy due to his Iranian nationality for an educational program at the United Nations.
Finally, a motion was approved to promote a municipal climate control plan in Alcobendas' public schools, including a thermal diagnosis and an implementation schedule for the works. The energy audit of the centers will be ready by January 2027.
