The intervention, with a budget of 1,189,875.57 euros, aims to modernize these facilities, which currently host sports such as basketball, roller hockey, and futsal. The main objective is to enable their continuous use, even in adverse weather conditions or at night.
The contract award process has already begun, and the works are estimated to last four months once formalized. This project will benefit thousands of residents who use these courts throughout the year.
Among the most notable improvements is the construction of a roof that will protect the courts from rain, removing a significant limitation to their use. Additionally, the lighting system will be replaced to optimize visibility during nighttime hours, the deteriorated pavement will be completely renovated, and protections will be installed on the perimeter fences to enhance safety.
“"with this action, we continue to fulfill the promise to invest in the improvement of our facilities that we made when presenting the candidacy that has made us the Best European City of Sport."
These actions aim to make the courts functional for more hours a day and at any time of the year, thus expanding the possibilities of use for athletes of all ages. The Sports Councilor of Alcobendas has framed this initiative within a broader commitment to improving the municipality's sports offerings.
