The municipality of Fresno de Torote is preparing to host a free astronomy day on August 12th, coinciding with one of the most anticipated astronomical events: the total solar eclipse. The event will take place at Parque de La Reguerilla and is designed to bring astronomy closer to all audiences.
The initiative will offer a combination of educational activities, children's workshops, and a space dedicated to the safe observation of the eclipse. The goal is for both residents and visitors to enjoy and learn about this natural phenomenon.
The total solar eclipse will begin at 7:36 PM, and its totality phase will last approximately 53 seconds. During this brief but intense period, Fresno de Torote will become one of the prime locations in the Community of Madrid to witness the phenomenon at its peak.
The event will run from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM. An information and observation point will be set up at Parque de La Reguerilla, where specialized monitors will guide attendees, providing explanations and ensuring that the eclipse observation is carried out with adequate safety measures.
This activity is part of the 'Pueblos con Vida' (Villages with Life) program, promoted by the Community of Madrid, which aims to revitalize municipalities located within the eclipse's totality path.
