One hundred and twenty students from the School of Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Madrid participated in the Technical Conference 'The Matter We Inhabit', held on October 7th as part of the Architecture Week 2026.

The conference, organized by DCTA-ETSAM (UPM) and the IETcc, offered students the opportunity to learn about the research activities of the Eduardo Torroja Institute for Construction Science (IETcc). Attendees visited the laboratory of the DIT Unit, where they witnessed a wind suction test on a full-scale model of a ventilated facade system, and the Structural Testing Hall.
Researchers Eduardo Lahoz and Arturo Martinez gave presentations on the DIT and the ZEBAI project as examples of the institute's research lines.
During the event, participants could choose between a morning or afternoon session. In the morning session, Javier Fernández, Sonia Martínez, and Rafael Soldado explained the testing equipment in the DIT laboratory and the Structural Testing Hall. Meanwhile, Adrián Triguero and Elia Chamorro, Architecture graduates and JAE scholarship holders at the DIT Unit, shared their experiences.
In the afternoon session, Ángel Armando and Carmen Gómez, former JAE-INTRO/ICUS scholarship holders, detailed their current professional activities in renowned companies within the sector.
