The pharmaceutical company Sandoz Iberia has renewed the Madrid Excelente seal, a distinction that recognizes its trajectory in research, innovation, and access to medicines. The award coincides with significant milestones for the company: 140 years of history, 80 years of experience in antibiotics, and 20 years in the development of biosimilars.
Elena Mantilla, Director General of Madrid Excelente, presented the seal to Joaquín Rodrigo, Director General of Sandoz Iberia. During the event, the four pillars of the seal were highlighted: Values, Innovation, People, and Environment, and how these principles are applied in the pharmaceutical company's activities.
Joaquín Rodrigo reviewed Sandoz's evolution since 1886, emphasizing its adaptability and contribution to facilitating access to treatments with a portfolio of over 1,300 generic medicines and 13 biosimilars, reaching more than one billion patients annually in over 100 countries.
A round table discussed the 'Sandoz Alliance for Accessibility,' with participation from Eusebio Azorín (ILUNION), Javier Luengo (Plena Inclusión Madrid), Manuel Martínez del Peral (Official College of Pharmacists of Madrid), and Manuel Quintana (La Paz University Hospital). Initiatives such as 'Accessible Hospitals 360º' and 'saludmasfacil.org' were presented.
Sandoz's international presence in Madrid is reflected in its global competence center (GCC), which brings together professionals from over 35 nationalities. René Gessenich, P&O Head and GCC Madrid Head, explained how this center fosters talent attraction and global collaboration.
With this award, Madrid Excelente distinguishes Sandoz's management, its commitment to innovation, and its collaboration with other entities, reaffirming its link to the healthcare sector in the Community of Madrid.
