Ricardo Navarro Suay, New Honorary Academician of Medicine

Lieutenant Colonel physician Ricardo Navarro Suay has been appointed honorary corresponding academician of the Royal National Academy of Medicine of Spain (RANME). The ceremony was attended by the President of the Academy, Prof. Eduardo Díaz-Rubio, who presented him with the institution's diploma and medal.

Dr. Navarro Suay, a graduate in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Valencia, completed his specialization at the La Princesa University Hospital in Madrid. He undertook rotations at La Paz Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, and later developed a significant part of his clinical practice at the Central Defense Hospital Gómez Ulla. He served as an associate professor in the Department of Medicine at the Military School of Health and is currently assigned to the Operations Command in Madrid.
Holding doctorates in Medicine (Autonomous University of Madrid) and History (CEU San Pablo University), Navarro Suay also possesses three master's degrees in Medical Direction and Clinical Management, Security and Defense, and Intelligence and Cyberintelligence. He completed the Advanced Intelligence Studies Course at the Higher Center for National Defense Studies (CESEDEN). He is also an academician of the academies of medicine in the Canary Islands and Galicia, as well as the Academy of Military Sciences and Arts.
His professional career spans medicine, teaching, research, and extensive international military experience. He has participated in 15 overseas missions under NATO, European Union, and United Nations mandates, in theaters such as Afghanistan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Haiti, Lebanon, the Indian Ocean, the Mediterranean, and the Baltic Sea. As a flight surgeon in Afghanistan, he conducted 42 medical rescue missions, evacuating 46 casualties.
In the scientific field, he has authored 188 articles, 7 books, and 54 book chapters, and has supervised 11 doctoral theses. He has received numerous accolades, including the Fidel Pagés Miravé, Comandante Médico Pagés Miravé, General Darías Montesinos, and Revista Sanidad Militar awards.
