The Príncipe de Asturias University Hospital, in Alcalá de Henares, has organized a day for patients and healthcare professionals to mark World Breast Cancer Day, celebrated on October 19th.

The public center of the Community of Madrid brought together over a hundred people to discuss the pathology directly. The aim of the event, organized by the hospital's Breast Unit, was to create a space for interaction between healthcare professionals and patients, allowing the latter to voice their concerns to the medical staff attending them.
Through presentations and round tables, attendees and their families heard from specialists in obstetrics, gynecology, oncology, radiodiagnosis, plastic surgery, nuclear medicine, internal medicine, endocrinology, nutrition, rehabilitation, psychiatry, and nursing. These experts covered key aspects of the oncological process, from diagnosis to treatment and subsequent recovery.
The multidisciplinary participation provided a comprehensive view of the disease and facilitated the resolution of doubts and concerns for patients and their families. The day featured three panels: the first delved into risk factors, genetics, radiological diagnosis, and therapeutic options; the second focused on patient care during the oncological process, physical exercise, and nutrition; and the third addressed quality of life, menopause, sexual life, and psychology, including the personal experience of a patient.
This initiative, which also had the collaboration of the Spanish Association Against Cancer, reinforces the hospital's commitment to comprehensive, person-centered care, where information, active patient participation, and family support are integral to the therapeutic approach to the disease.
