The initiative, coordinated by the Directorate General of Public Health, will take place at over 850 points across the region until January 31st, with the possibility of extension based on epidemiological conditions. The Deputy Minister of Health, Laura Gutiérrez, presented the campaign at the La Cortes Health Center in the capital.
The first two weeks will focus on immunizing individuals over 60 years old and children between six and 95 months. Starting October 19th, protection will extend to other target groups such as pregnant women, individuals with chronic cardiovascular, respiratory, or diabetes conditions, caregivers of vulnerable people, and smokers.
Public Health also recommends the vaccine for individuals with direct occupational exposure to domestic birds or pigs, as well as for teachers in early childhood education centers and essential public service personnel, including the State Security Forces and Corps, firefighters, and members of Civil Protection.
