The Governing Council of the Community of Madrid has authorized an investment exceeding 15 million euros for the acquisition of eleven new automatic aerial ladder trucks for the regional Fire Department. This expenditure will be distributed until 2031, with a contract execution period of 48 months.
These vehicles are crucial for rescuing people at height, particularly in urban environments, and for operating from elevated positions in industrial fires. Each unit features an aerial ladder up to 30 meters, which is liftable in its first section, extendable, rotatable, and articulated, allowing for automatic movements during firefighting, rescue, and salvage operations.
The aerial structure of each vehicle includes a deployable and detachable basket capable of supporting up to 500 kilograms. The Community of Madrid Fire Department must ensure these units are in good working order 365 days a year to respond to emergencies.
Currently, the Fire Department operates 37 aerial ladder trucks across the region's 22 stations, with 33 owned and four under financial lease. The addition of these eleven new units, representing an investment 31.28% higher than the average of previous acquisitions, is primarily due to their enhanced technical capabilities.
