The Governing Council has approved submitting the decree's text for public consultation, which seeks to establish a regulatory framework for bioethics advice within the regional healthcare system. The main objective is to provide a faster response to problems that may arise during patient care.
The project includes the creation of a Bioethics Committee, a consultative and independent body responsible for advising on ethical issues related to biomedicine throughout the region. Concurrently, a model of Healthcare Ethics Consultancy will be implemented, which healthcare professionals can use to quickly resolve conflicts that arise in their daily work.
This initiative aims to update and unify regulations on bioethics in health, optimizing their functioning. Furthermore, it seeks to strengthen the collaboration of the Community of Madrid with other autonomous communities and the Bioethics Committee of Spain through the Technical Cooperation Network.
Among the functions of the new committee will be ensuring the application of fundamental ethical principles in health-related matters. To this end, it will issue reports and recommendations, both on its own initiative and upon request from other institutions, including Ethics Committees for Healthcare Assistance (CEAS).
