The event brought together institutional representatives, members of the IRMA-FSP Foundation and SIMA-FSP Foundation, mediators, and system users, who highlighted the contribution of mediation and arbitration to strengthening labor relations and achieving agreements between companies and workers in the region over the past three decades.
The closing ceremony was attended by Miguel Garrido, president of CEIM; Rocío Albert López-Ibor, Minister of Economy, Finance, and Employment of the Community of Madrid; Susana Huertas Moya, general secretary of UGT Madrid; and Paloma López Bermejo, general secretary of CCOO Madrid.
“"The fact that more than a third of mediations conclude with an agreement between the parties, with the percentage increasing year by year, and in particular, IRMA's contribution to the de-escalation of strikes, has benefited companies, workers, and all of Madrid's society."
Miguel Garrido emphasized how negotiated solutions foster "stability, cost savings, and an improved work environment," thereby avoiding lengthy and expensive judicial proceedings. He also stressed the need to continue enhancing the training of mediators and arbitrators.
For her part, Minister Rocío Albert López-Ibor stated that IRMA has proven to be "a useful channel" for managing labor conflicts for 30 years, defending the importance of social dialogue. She recalled that the system has handled over 16,000 cases since its inception.
The general secretaries of CCOO Madrid, Paloma López, and UGT Madrid, Susana Huertas, agreed in identifying mediation and arbitration as essential tools for negotiation and seeking agreements.
The day included debate panels on the evolution of IRMA and the future challenges of labor mediation, reaffirming the value of social dialogue and collaboration among companies, unions, and the Administration.
