The cultural center Espacio Abierto Quinta de los Molinos, dedicated to children and adolescents, becomes a venue for the International Exhibition of Educational Cinema (MICE) Madrid for its tenth edition, featuring national and international short films and a new audiovisual creation cycle.

The International Exhibition of Educational Cinema (MICE) Madrid celebrates its tenth edition at Espacio Abierto Quinta de los Molinos, a cultural center for children and adolescents managed by the Department of Culture, Tourism, and Sport. The festival focuses on the creative universe of children and youth with a program that includes short films created by children and young people from educational settings in Argentina, Belgium, Slovenia, Spain, Italy, and Portugal, as well as productions by professionals from Germany, Armenia, Croatia, Spain, Mexico, Portugal, Czech Republic, Russia, and Sweden.
The screenings, with free admission, will take place on October 24 and 25. School sessions will be shown on Saturday from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM and on Sunday from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Professional sessions will be available on Saturday from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM and on Sunday from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
MICE Madrid's program also includes the workshop-quiz A Film, an Image, designed to introduce cinema to younger audiences. Participants will design their own poster by interpreting a short film's story. This activity is scheduled for October 24 for children aged 8 to 12, and the day before for students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade of Primary Education.
Starting in November, Espacio Abierto will launch MICE+, a new cycle that will extend the Exhibition's experience throughout the academic year. This cycle aims to establish a film school and open cinema space at Espacio Abierto for educational centers, children, adolescents, and families, exploring cinematic language through image reading and writing, and combining film viewings with learning and experimentation in audiovisual creation techniques. Short films from the festival's ten previous editions, made by both professionals and young creators, will be screened in thematic selections. The first sessions will be on November 15 and 29, followed by others in January, February, April, May, and June 2027, as well as July and September.
The workshops scheduled for MICE+ invite participants to experiment with animation, moving images, sound, and filming techniques, exploring cinema's expressive possibilities and creating their own short audiovisual pieces. The first workshop, a quiz-workshop on the usual dynamics of a film shoot, will be held on November 27 and 28 (school session). It will be followed by one on the history of cinema on December 4 (school session), and on animated filmmaking with geometric figures on January 29 and 30, 2027. Further workshops will take place from February to June.
The MICE+ cycle will conclude with a celebration and a public showcase of the films created throughout the course.
