The President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, defended on Tuesday support measures for the self-employed and family businesses, criticizing policies that, in her opinion, aim to "prop up a communist way of life and ideas" in Spain.

During her speech at the XXIX National Congress of Family Business, Ayuso stated that "since we have been in the hands of these agendas, our country has been losing prosperity, business competitiveness, international presence, and credibility at forced marches." She added that "nobody is better off with any of this."
The president emphasized the importance of thinking about family businesses because "they can't take it anymore, tired of bureaucracy, impunity, absurd rule abuses, and mid-game rule changes." According to regional data, family businesses sustain 58.9% of the region's private employment and contribute 46.2% of its Gross Value Added. Furthermore, they account for over 20% of all businesses operating in Spain.
In the Community of Madrid, the transfer of ownership of these businesses benefits from a 99% reduction in the Inheritance and Gift Tax, applicable to both inheritances and donations. The Law for the Support of Family Business, in effect since this year, regulates this measure along with actions in training, employment, financing, internationalization, innovation, and digitalization.
