Unable to return to their homes or find alternative arrangements, these individuals have been housed in hotels in Madrid, Parla, and Móstoles. The Governing Council has been informed of the emergency contract with the Spanish Red Cross to provide this service, valued at 1,468,229 euros and valid until October 26.
The residences offer full board and the support of a social worker. Assistance also includes transportation for affected residents to the hotels and, when feasible, their return home.
Accommodation was provided to those who, after being evacuated, could not immediately find another place to stay, either through their own means or with family assistance. To access it, they had to prove that the affected property was their habitual residence, that they held a valid legal title to it (such as ownership or a rental agreement), and that it no longer met minimum habitability conditions due to the fire.
The General Directorate for Territorial Rebalancing, under the Ministry of the Presidency, Justice, and Local Administration, was responsible for immediately implementing the necessary measures, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Social Services and Integration, from the Ministry of Family, Youth, and Social Affairs.
This initiative complements another 50 measures launched by the regional government to address the needs of those affected, particularly those whose homes have been damaged, and to facilitate their gradual return to normality. Among the housing aid for victims, the Community of Madrid has approved direct subsidies covering up to 100% of rental costs, with a maximum of 1,500 euros per month for up to 12 months. Additionally, properties from the Social Housing Agency (AVS) have been made available for families whose habitual residence became uninhabitable.
