The Madrid City Council has launched the second phase of urban regeneration works at Colonia Urpisa, located in the Villa de Vallecas district.

This intervention, part of the Plan Regenera Madrid, has a budget of 1.55 million euros and covers an area of 7,659 square meters. The work focuses on the spaces between blocks and the northern section of Puerto de Lumbreras street.
The project aims to eliminate architectural barriers to ensure accessible routes. Furthermore, a comprehensive renovation will be carried out, including the installation of 54 LED streetlights, 44 benches, and a drinking fountain, alongside the creation of new children's play areas and calisthenics zones.
The project includes a significant environmental component with the planting of 73 trees and the implementation of permeable paving. These measures seek to improve thermal comfort and reduce the heat island effect in the residential area.
The first phase of this program, already completed, involved an investment of 1.17 million euros and improved 11,420 square meters in several surrounding streets, including traffic reorganization and the installation of new urban furniture.
