Parque de Santander, also known as the Third Deposit park, will transform into a major open-air cultural venue in Madrid this summer. The initiative, in its second year, will offer a completely free program combining performing arts, dance, and cinema under the stars.
The event is designed for all audiences and age groups, with activities scheduled on weekends and Wednesday nights throughout the two summer months. It aims to be a regular fixture for those seeking free cultural leisure in a natural setting within the capital.
A highlight of this edition is the performance by the Ballet Español de la Comunidad de Madrid, presenting 'Patrimonio' from July 8th to 18th. Under the artistic direction of Mónica Fernández, the show explores characteristic expressions of Spanish dance, including flamenco, the Escuela Bolera, and stylized dance, featuring new choreographies.
Film enthusiasts have a guaranteed weekly date. Every Wednesday throughout July and August, open-air screenings will take place at 10:00 PM in July and 9:30 PM in August. The selection spans various genres, aiming to please the entire family. Featured Spanish productions include 'Los domingos', 'Rondallas', 'Altas capacidades', and 'La cena', alongside animated films like 'Olivia y el terremoto invisible' and international options such as 'Valor sentimental'.
Saturdays are reserved for performing arts, with shows starting at 8:30 PM in July and 8:00 PM in August. The lineup emphasizes diverse formats and companies, including gestural theater, clowning, puppetry, and circus, with offerings for both children and adults. Confirmed companies include Portugal's Concorda, known for its expressive gestural theater, Chema Muñoz with his clown performance, Zurrunka Teatro & La semilla voladora for puppetry, and Circ Bover, blending circus and music.
