Prominent Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado has announced a meeting with former presidential candidate Edmundo González Urrutia in Madrid on April 18, an event aimed at mobilizing the Venezuelan diaspora and strengthening opposition unity.

The announcement was made by Machado via a video on social media, where she expressed her enthusiasm for reuniting with González and the Venezuelan community in the Spanish capital. The event is scheduled for 6:00 PM and is expected to attract a large number of participants.

"Dear Venezuelans, here I am with our president Edmundo González. I will be able to hug you again Edmundo and so many Venezuelans. See you on the 18th at 18 (hours) in Madrid."

González Urrutia, who also appeared in the video, confirmed the appointment, highlighting the importance of Machado's visit to Madrid. The opposition leader urged attendees to bring the Venezuelan flag and come with their families, emphasizing the feeling of "soon returning home" that unites the diaspora.
The opposition party Comando con Venezuela has described this meeting as a "historic event," emphasizing the "energy, courage, and hope" that characterize their struggle and stating that "our struggle has no borders."
According to reports from Artículo 14, Machado's agenda in Madrid could include meetings with local political figures such as the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida. Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares has indicated that the Spanish Government would have no objection to a meeting if Machado requested it, recalling previous contacts with her and other Venezuelan opposition leaders.
