The mayor of Torrejón de Ardoz, Alejandro Navarro, has defended the funding model for the 2026 Popular Festivities concerts, asserting that ticket sales minimize the economic impact on municipal coffers, allowing for the booking of top-tier artists.

The controversy arose after the publication of confirmed concert figures, leading the PSOE to question the expenditure. However, the local government argues that this criticism overlooks the revenue generated from ticket sales, a crucial factor that reduces the final cost borne by the Council.

"To continue working to try to have the best artists and keep the cost as low as possible."

As explained by Navarro, the municipal strategy allows a significant portion of the show costs to be covered by ticket revenue. If all tickets are sold, the municipal outlay would be limited to the artists' fees and the management costs for the ticketing and invitation system, as stipulated in the contracts approved by the Governing Board.
The confirmed artists for the 2026 Popular Festivities are David Bisbal, Hombres G, and Saiko, who will perform at the concert venue within the Fairgrounds. Saiko is scheduled for June 20, David Bisbal for June 21, and Hombres G for June 23.
The City Council emphasizes the exclusivity of these performances in the Community of Madrid: David Bisbal's concert will be his only one in the region, Hombres G's will be the only one with tickets for sale, and Saiko's will be his sole performance in Madrid. This programming aims to offer a unique attraction for the Torrejón festivities.
Regarding the figures, David Bisbal's fee is 51,500 euros, with potential revenue from up to 15,000 tickets at 34.90 euros each, plus 84,896 euros in management costs. For Hombres G, the fee amounts to 132,500 euros, with similar revenue potential and 87,115 euros in management. Finally, Saiko's fee is 111,500 euros, with tickets at 19.90 euros and 84,180 euros in management costs. The City Council insists that the economic evaluation must consider the balance between artist fees, operational costs, and ticket sales revenue.
