The Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza has launched the 25th edition of its 'Versiona Thyssen' art call on Instagram, allowing participation for the first time to anyone aged 16 and over, and offering monetary prizes.

The initiative, which collaborates with the Community of Madrid, aims to foster artistic creation through the reinterpretation of masterpieces. Interested individuals have until May 17, 2026, to submit their proposals.
To participate, artists must publish their creations on Instagram using the hashtags #VersionaThyssen25 and #VersionaThyssen, as well as tagging @museothyssen. It is essential to include the title of both the reinterpreted work and the new creation. There is no limit to the number of proposals each participant can submit.

"The artistic creation call on Instagram accepts anyone aged 16 and over, thus removing age restrictions from previous editions."

Prizes for selected works range from 500 to 1,000 euros, and also include exclusive benefits and advantages at the museum. A jury composed of guest artists and representatives from the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza and the Community of Madrid will be responsible for selecting the winning works.
The six museum works chosen as starting points for this edition are: Portrait of a Young Lady with a Rosary (1609-1610) by Peter Paul Rubens; The Council Chamber of the Amsterdam Town Hall (1663-1665) by Pieter Hendricksz de Hooch; Still Life with Cat and Fish (1728) by Jean Baptiste Siméon Chardin; Portrait of a Man from the Island of Dominica (1770-1780) by Circle of Sir Joshua Reynolds; Sunset (1888) by Edvard Munch; and Street with Red Prostitute (1914-1925) by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner.
