The Madrid Assembly witnessed a heated debate on ETA prisoners, culminating in the expulsion of a socialist deputy after a physical altercation with a PP parliamentarian.

Thursday's session in the Madrid Assembly was marked by significant tension during a discussion concerning ETA prisoners. The debate, focused on a PP proposal to tighten access requirements for prison benefits, led to exchanges of accusations regarding terrorism victims and penitentiary policy.
The most notable incident occurred when socialist deputy Fernando Fernández Lara attempted to speak out of turn. After being called to order three times by the Chamber's vice-president, Ana Millán, his expulsion was decided. As he left his seat, Fernández Lara confronted PP deputy Enrique Serrano, requiring several socialist parliamentarians to intervene and escort him from the hemicycle.

Subsequently, the PSOE spokesperson in the Assembly, Mar Espinar, requested to speak about the incident, but upon not receiving authorization, the socialist deputies decided to leave the session. The PP of Alcalá de Henares linked the incident on social media platform X to local politics, describing the act as a reflection of "permanent confrontation politics" and the "true face of sanchismo".
